Wyoming High School's 2026 Summer Read

As America prepares to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, we have an opportunity to learn about the people and events that have shaped our country, many of whom are unknown. This summer’s “mighty” read focuses on the question: How can we recognize the contributions of unsung heroes?

The English and Social Studies Departments collaborated to select a title for this year's Wyoming High School 2026 "Mighty" Read that commemorates America's 250th anniversary:

The Small and the Mighty: Twelve Unsung Americans Who Changed the Course of History, from the Founding Fathers to the Civil Rights Movement by Sharon McMahon

All students entering grades 9-12 for the 2026-2027 school year must read this book. You can find the book at your local library, local bookstores, or on Amazon. Students are asked to complete the reading by August 20, 2026.
