Our September Impact Award Winner is WHS Teacher Andy Lyon!
Tremendous work is done across our Wyoming school community to create extraordinary opportunities for students. Wyoming High School Teacher Andy Lyon exemplifies excellence in his work to empower Wyoming students with the knowledge, perspective, and skills essential for success.
In his work, Mr. Lyon:
- Creates active and engaging learning experiences and environments for students.
- Uses innovative practices in curriculum design and instructional strategies.
- Promotes a growth mindset in teaching, learning, and professional development
- Embeds inclusive practices in creating safe spaces for all students.
- Supports student and staff-member social and emotional well-being.

- Inspires creative and critical thinking, communication, and collaboration.

Mr. Lyon’s rapport with students is positive and allows reluctant students to feel safe and successful.
Andy has worked hard to bring inclusive literature into his sophomore curriculum.

Mr. Lyon started a very successful student-to-student mentor program at the high school - Colts & Cowboys - giving students additional leadership opportunities and high school students who are new to Wyoming a friendly welcome and ongoing support.
Andy Lyon is supportive and inclusive. He is a unifier who has never met a stranger because his genuinely kind and caring spirit draws people to him.
Mr. Lyon promotes a healthy balance of rigor and reality as he provides a positive, well-rounded experience for all students!
