A Message from the Superintendent

To the Wyoming Community,

On Thursday, April 23, the Wyoming Police Department issued a lockdown command for all of our schools due to a bomb threat at Wyoming High School. We appreciate this partnership and the swift action taken today by Wyoming PD and other local law enforcement.

After Wyoming and Hamilton County authorities conducted a clean sweep of the interior and exterior of all Wyoming High School facilities, the lockdown command for all schools was lifted. 

Authorities believe this false threat came from outside our school community and was a swatting incident. A swatting incident is a false report of an emergency to public safety by a person for the intent of getting a SWAT team response to a location where no emergency exists. At no time were Wyoming students or staff members in danger.

After the lockdown was lifted, Wyoming High School Principal Michael Voynovich met with Wyoming High School staff and students to share this information with them and the high school proceeded with the day’s intended schedule.

Thank you to our staff for supporting our students during and after today’s events. Thank you to our families and students for following safety protocols that allowed first responders to complete their work as quickly as possible.

While authorities continue to investigate this occurrence, let’s work together to keep our schools safe for everyone. If you see something out of the ordinary, say something. And please make sure that our students understand that if they are in need of support, they have trusted adults in all of our schools to help them.
