Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

At Wyoming City Schools, we believe that every child deserves a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where they can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. To help us achieve this, we use Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) in every building across the district.

What is PBIS?

PBIS is a proactive, school-wide approach that teaches and reinforces positive behaviors while providing consistent support for all students. Instead of focusing only on correcting misbehavior, PBIS emphasizes clear expectations, positive reinforcement, and supportive interventions so that students learn the skills they need to succeed.

How PBIS Works in Our Schools

Why PBIS Matters

Research shows that PBIS helps create safe, predictable learning environments where students feel a sense of belonging. At Wyoming City Schools, PBIS is part of our commitment to supporting the whole child - helping students build positive relationships, develop self-control, and grow into compassionate leaders.

Family Partnership

Parents and guardians are essential partners in PBIS. We encourage families to:

  • Ask their child about the expectations at school.
  • Celebrate positive behaviors at home.
  • Stay connected with teachers and principals about ways to support consistency between home and school.

Together, we can create a strong, positive learning environment that helps all Wyoming students succeed.

It is the policy of Wyoming City Schools to only use restraint or seclusion when there is an imminent risk of physical harm to the students or others. Every use of restraint and/or seclusion shall be documented and reported in accordance with Board Policy 5630.01.
