Wheel-A-Thon raises money to support Wyoming City Schools by getting kids on their wheels.

Students in grades K-6 get pledges for their ride and win prizes for every 5 course laps of the Wheel-a-thon course they complete. Additional prizes are awarded for most money raised and laps completed. 

How it works: Students in grades K-6 raise pledges to complete 1-mile laps on their bikes, scooters, rollerblades, wheelchairs, skateboards, or any other non-motorized wheels of their choice. Riders win prizes for every 5 laps of the course they complete. Additional prizes are awarded for most laps completed and the most money raised by grade.

This Friday, April 29, is Caps for the Cure Day in all Wyoming City Schools! Proceeds benefit The Cure Starts Now Foundation and pediatric brain cancer research.

The Cure Starts Now was founded by a Wyoming family after their daughter Elena, a student at Vermont School, lost her battle with DIPG, a hard to treat form of brain cancer. In the years since, the non-profit has gone on to fund research grants around the globe totaling more than $18 million.

This Friday on Caps for the Cure Day, students can wear a crazy hat or crazy socks for the day. In exchange, students and families are asked to donate $1 to The Cure Starts Now Foundation. Students can bring money to school on Friday or students and families can donate electronically now using the QR code on the newsletter linked here and below.

Wyoming City Schools' Caps for the Cure Day is a collaborative effort of the Wyoming High School Student Council, Wyoming Middle School Student Council, the staff of Wyoming City Schools, and The Cure Starts Now.

Get out and explore Wyoming with your whole family at the Wyoming School Foundation’s Poker Hunt! With each registration, you’ll get a set of 5 clues for you to solve. The clues will lead you to secret (walkable) locations where you’ll receive one playing card in a sealed envelope at each. Turn in your envelopes/cards at the Village Green check-out to have your poker hand revealed!

Best poker hands will win fabulous prizes, including a summer membership to the Wyoming Aquatic Center!
