Wyoming City Schools on In-Person Learning Plan More Information

Based upon the current data related to the spread of COVID in our local area and school buildings, Wyoming City Schools will continue with full in-person learning Wednesday-Friday, January 20-22. There is no school for students on Monday, Jan. 18, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day or Tuesday, Jan. 19, due to a staff professional development day.

On a daily basis, we will continue to track our local data and evolving science, follow public health guidance, and monitor academic progress and the mounting social and emotional needs of our students. We will continue to consult with the Wyoming City Schools Science Advisory Team at least weekly. It is important to note that input from the Wyoming City Schools Science Advisory Team is considered when making decisions about learning mode but, ultimately, learning mode decisions are made by school officials. The diversity of thought and opinion represented on the Science Advisory Team continues to help Wyoming City Schools make the most well-informed decisions possible.

Wyoming City Schools is continuing to track and communicate about positive cases and close contacts among students and staff members and we continue to monitor our ability to strictly implement our bundle of protective protocols. The science of in-school transmission is early and preliminary. We are focused on continuing to learn about COVID-19 in K-12 environments and are running simulations based on foreseeable events. We are vigilantly watching for COVID-19 variants being identified in our area or transmission being indicated in our schools. In the future, it is possible that we will need to shift our learning mode again on short notice (from in-person to hybrid or full remote) and families should be as prepared for that as possible.

We will continue to share information at least weekly and it is crucial that students, families and staff members restrict their activities outside of school to minimize the risk of introduction of COVID-19 into the classroom setting.
