The Wyoming City Schools Board of Education is pleased to announce its selection of Timothy J. Weber as the next Superintendent of Wyoming City Schools, effective August 1, 2019. Mr. Weber is currently the Assistant Superintendent of Madeira City Schools. He will replace Dr. Susan Lang, who is retiring on July 31 after serving Wyoming City Schools as superintendent for 8 years.
“I’m thrilled that our comprehensive search has resulted in Tim Weber becoming the next Superintendent of Wyoming City Schools,” said Board President Jeanie Zoller. “Mr. Weber has earned a high degree of admiration in each of his previous roles from Teacher to Elementary Principal to Assistant Superintendent. He has served in a many-layered, large district and he has been a respected and highly effective leader in a small school system that recognizes the value of its close-knit community. His ability to build strong relationships with staff, parents, and students, with empathy, trust, and respect, make him the perfect fit for our district. We believe in his ability to collaboratively create a vision that supports the work of our teachers and champions all children in our community.”
“I am excited and honored to have been chosen as the new superintendent for Wyoming City Schools,” said Mr. Weber. “Wyoming students excel because of the wonderful partnership between families, the schools, and the entire community. I’m eager to be part of this team as we work together to create new and exciting opportunities for our students!”
With assistance from the search firm Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates, the Board of Education included an extensive community engagement process as part of the search for the next superintendent. This process included more than 45 focus groups and conversations and an online community survey that garnered 928 responses from parents, community members, teachers, administrators, support staff and high school students. The resulting information, along with the feedback gathered at the Citizens Advisory Committee Citizens Forum in February, were important tools the board used in discerning the needs of the district and the desirable qualities of the next superintendent.
“We are truly grateful to our community for their interest and involvement in helping to inform this important process,” said Board Vice President Kara Broderick.
Board interviews with six semi-finalist candidates were conducted on March 1, 2 and 3. Three finalists returned for second interviews on March 6, 10 and 12.
Mr. Weber has served as the Assistant Superintendent of Madeira City Schools since 2016. Prior to that he was the Principal of Madeira Elementary School and Endeavor Elementary and Van Gordon Elementary Schools in Lakota Local School District. He was also Assistant Principal of Lakota’s Woodland Elementary School, a fifth grade teacher in Lakota Local School District, 5th and 6th grade teacher in Sycamore Community Schools, and was an Administrator Instructor of math curriculum with the Hamilton County Educational Service Center.
A Meet-the-Superintendent event is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, April 27, in Wyoming High School’s Pendery Center for the Arts Lobby prior to the Wyoming High School Play performance.
