WMS Team has outstanding performance at Power of the Pen Regional Tournament!

Power of the Pen

Congratulations to our Wyoming Middle School Power of the Pen team for an outstanding performance at the Regional Tournament, hosted virtually by Wyoming Middle School on February 27. Power of the Pen is Ohio's original interscholastic creative writing program for middle schools. Twenty schools and 121 writers participated in this year's tournament.

Scores have been totaled and Wyoming Coach Beth Toerner and Power of the Pen Regional Director Jenn Sauvey announced the winners with a virtual awards ceremony shared on March 13.

The Wyoming Middle School 8th grade team earned 2nd place and the 7th grade team earned first place. Together, the middle school's 8th and 7th grade teams won 1st place and the Sweepstakes Trophy.

Individually, eighth grader Maggie Galvin placed 7th and earned a Director's Choice award for her story, Chaos at the House. Among seventh grade writers, Sophie Andreassen placed 4th, Alexis Kraus placed 5th, and Elana Berman placed 7th

We are thrilled that the following five writers will represent Wyoming Middle School at the Power of the Pen State Tournament: Sophie Andreassen, Elana Berman, Ella Fernandez, Maggie Galvin, and Alexis Kraus.

We are so proud of all of our writers, and we are looking forward to the State Tournament, which will be hosted virtually by Otterbein University on Saturday, May 15,
