WCS BOE to fill board vacancy

BOE Seal

“It is with great sadness and excitement that I am tendering my resignation from the Wyoming City Schools Board of Education, effective June 1, 2022,” said Board Member Justin Buckner. “My excitement stems from the unique career opportunity presented to me requiring a relocation to Los Angeles, California. I will be working in Human Resources for Netflix. This is an adventure my family and I are looking forward to pursuing.”

“My sadness stems from the fact that Wyoming has an amazing community, school district, administration, board, staff and students - and I will miss all of it very deeply,” said Mr. Buckner. "I have cherished my time on the board, what we have accomplished and the amazing work to come. Wyoming is a special place and I am proud to be a born-and-bred Cowboy.”

Per Wyoming City Schools Bylaw 0145 - Filling a Board Vacancy, the remaining members of the Wyoming City Schools Board of Education will be selecting a Wyoming resident to fill this vacancy. The position will commence with appointment at the Wyoming City School Board of Education Regular Meeting on Monday, June 27, 2022. The newly-appointed member will serve until January 1, 2024. If the appointed member desires to continue serving, they must run in the Board of Education election in November 2023. At that time, there will be a special election to fill the remaining two years of Mr. Buckner’s original four-year term.
