Due to rapidly escalating case numbers in our county, we will continue mandatory masking in all Wyoming City Schools buildings, including Wyoming High School, for the foreseeable future.

Changes to WCS COVID-19 quarantine and isolation guidance

On December 30, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) aligned with the recently updated COVID-19 quarantine and isolation guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

ODH K-12 school quarantine guidance can be found here.

ODH guidance for COVID exposure outside a K-12 setting can be found here.

This guidance can also be found on our WCS COVID 19: Our Plan webpage. Wyoming City Schools procedures are aligned with this guidance.

FDA approves boosters for children 12-15 and shortens time before booster to 5 months for those 12 and older

This morning, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) expanded the emergency use authorization for Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine boosters to children ages 12 to 15. The FDA also shortened the time needed before receiving a booster shot from at least six months after completion of the initial series to at least five months for everyone 12 and older. The CDC is expected to act upon this approval in the coming days. Participation in our Wyoming COVID-19 vaccine clinics remains strong and weekly clinics have been extended through January 18. More information about these clinics can be found here.

When changes are made to our pandemic plan, we will continue to communicate them as quickly as possible. We greatly appreciate the ongoing partnership and cooperation of all Wyoming stakeholders in keeping our students, staff and community protected during the pandemic.
