We will be modifying our pandemic plan at Wyoming High School and will move from the mandatory mask requirement next month. Starting Monday, January 10, 2022, masks will be recommended but not required for students, staff and visitors when inside Wyoming High School.
At Wyoming High School, there is no clear evidence of in-school transmission. Additionally, at Wyoming High School we see a relatively low number of cases when compared to other high schools, an even lower number of quarantines, and high vaccination rates:
-
During this school year, we’ve had a total of 15 positive cases among Wyoming High School students and staff or an average of less than one case per week.
-
Our high school students have been eligible for vaccination for months and our best data indicates that more than 82% of WHS students are fully-vaccinated against COVID-19.
-
Wyoming High School students, as opposed to some of our younger students, understand social distancing and have the ability to monitor their environments and respond appropriately.
On January 10, Wyoming High School students, staff and visitors will be encouraged, but not required, to wear facial coverings in the building and a mask-friendly environment will continue to be promoted at Wyoming High School.
We will continue to watch our school-based data and consider community transmission and vaccination rates, public health guidance, evolving science, and legislative action. If necessary, we will make further adjustments to our masking status at Wyoming High School. When changes are made to our pandemic plan, we will continue to communicate them as quickly as possible.
Masking at Wyoming Middle School & Wyoming Primary Schools Continues
At Wyoming Middle School and Wyoming Primary Schools, there is no clear evidence of in-school transmission but the availability of COVID vaccination for the students in these schools is a more recent development. Additionally, students at this age have a more varied range of ability to monitor and respond to their immediate environments. With this in mind, we do not anticipate moving from the mandated use of face coverings at Wyoming Middle School and Wyoming Primary Schools in January. Again, we will continue to watch our school-based data and consider community transmission and vaccination rates, public health guidance, evolving science, and legislative action.
Wyoming COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics
The CDC is now recommending and encouraging everyone 16 and older to receive a COVID-19 booster. Vaccination is an important way to protect yourself and others. Participation in our Wyoming COVID-19 vaccine clinics remains strong and weekly clinics have been extended through January 18. More information about these clinics can be found here.
COVID-19 Reporting Over Winter Break
For the safety and wellness of our students and staff, it is critical that staff and families continue to self-report to Wyoming City Schools any COVID-19 illness, testing, positive test result, or close contact.

These forms are submitted directly to District Nurse Nicole Murphy for review. Other COVID reporting for students can be sent through email to murphyn@wyomingcityschools.org.
We greatly appreciate the ongoing partnership and cooperation of all Wyoming stakeholders in keeping our students, staff and community healthy!
