Students lead spectacular Black History Month Assembly Students

Wyoming High School's Black History Month Assembly on Thursday, Feb. 20, was spectacular! This student-led event was covered by Channel 9 and featured a video, musical performances, spoken word poetry, a fashion show and a keynote speech by WHS grad Justin Buckner!

In case of inclement weather, Wyoming schools may call for a two-hour delay or a closure. Closure and delay information will be sent to family email addresses and phone numbers through the SchoolMessenger Notification System. Additionally, closure information will be posted on the homepage of the district website, the district Facebook page, the district Twitter account, and through local media. Staff members will also receive an email with closure information sent to their district email accounts.

District receives Auditor of State Award Wyoming City Schools Treasurer Ronda Johnson receives the Auditor of State Award from Ryan Holiday, Southwest Regional Liaison for Ohio Auditor of State Keith Faber.

Wyoming City Schools has earned the Auditor of State Award for excellence in financial reporting. This award is presented to local governments and school districts upon completion of a “clean” audit report. 
 
"We are so proud to earn this award again!” said Wyoming City Schools Treasurer Ronda Johnson. "Our goal is to be good stewards of our taxpayers’ dollars and this award is testimony to the dedication and excellent work of all staff members across the District who handle public funds."

Bugs and Beetles and Butterflies, Oh My! Fifth and sixth grade students in Wyoming Middle School's Art Club's drawings of bugs, beetles and butterflies

Fifth and sixth grade students in Wyoming Middle School's Art Club have been working hard on drawing bugs, beetles and butterflies! Their creations were featured on the rain barrel design they submitted to the Cincinnati Zoo and, out of 240 applications, their design was one of the 40 chosen!

Owl pellet dissection brings fascinating finds into fourth grade Sharing their discoveries

This month, students in Ms. Fox's class dissected owl pellets as part of the 4th grade science curriculum. A pellet, in ornithology, is the mass of undigested parts of a bird's food that some bird species occasionally regurgitate. The contents of a bird's pellet depend on its diet, but can include the exoskeletons of insects, indigestible plant matter, bones, fur, feathers, bills, claws, and teeth.

Ground has been broken on the Wyoming Champions Center, a new indoor athletic facility on the Wyoming High School campus that will provide much needed year-round training space for nearly 350 student athletes each year! This privately-funded building, featuring a state-of-the-art fitness facility, indoor practice turf space, team meeting space and more, will be located behind the home stadium bleachers, between the current baseball and softball fields.

The Hixson Teacher of the Year Award recognizes full-time teachers who are making outstanding contributions to students' lives. Since 1991, Hixson has sponsored the Teacher of the Year Award, which is presented annually to a current teacher of a Hixson associate’s child or grandchild. Mrs. Coomer was nominated by sisters Lauren and Annabelle Montgomery. Mrs. Coomer was recognized for her ability to inspire students of all backgrounds and abilities; earn the respect and admiration of students, parents and co-workers; and for playing an active role in her community, as well as her school's community activities.

Primary & Middle School students excel at math competition Perennial Math 1st Place Team

Forty-one (41) Wyoming Primary REACH students and 20 Middle School MathCounts club members had an extremely impressive showing at this weekend’s Perennial Math Competition. 

Primary school students working hard to help others! Second graders test their board games

First-grade students participated in the annual chore chart project to benefit the current residents of the Ronald McDonald House Charities - Greater Cincinnati and students created board games that were packaged with books for Inner City Youth Opportunities in some of our second grade classes.
