August 13, 2020:
Thank you for your patience as we work through this unprecedented time. As a middle school community, we will continue to navigate this dynamic situation by making decisions based on one simple principle: The health and well-being of our students and staff is our highest priority.
I recognize that there are questions and concerns regarding the start of this school year. Wyoming Middle School has spent the summer preparing for the return of students.
For All-Online Learners:
All-Online Learner Device and Textbook Curbside Pickup will be 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, August 18. Please pull up to the entrance on the west side of the building and follow the normal traffic patterns used for arrival and dismissal by car. Prior to arrival, please write Student Name and Grade on a piece of paper. Please come to All-Online Learner Device and Textbook Pickup in a vehicle. The student and parent will pull up, show the requested information to the staff member at the curb, open the trunk, and the staff member will place the laptop and textbooks in the trunk of the car.
Our staff has been training over the summer on building and aligning Canvas courses and other ways to connect your child to the classroom and provide support against feelings of isolation. Our goal is to have your student stay connected to his/her teacher and classmates while learning from home in a flexible model.
For In-Person Learners:
This year’s return to school will come with new processes and procedures to protect the health and safety of our students and staff.
Your partnership in reinforcing school safety measures is necessary for our group success. While these mitigation strategies will alter certain parts of the school day, our ultimate goal is to maintain a safe environment where students can learn.
It is imperative that families complete the Daily Home Health Screening for each student. (Forms for the first two weeks were sent home with student schedules. More forms will be provided to students during the first two weeks of school.)
The middle school has placed heightened emphasis on facility sanitation. We have hand sanitizer stations placed throughout our school. Students will be encouraged to wash their hands and use hand sanitizer stations regularly. Students and staff are required to wear face coverings.
The overall success of this school year will require each of us working closely together, listening to one another's concerns, and doing our part to contribute to a positive, healthy, and safe school experience. Thank you to our community for your patience, understanding, support, and partnership as we navigate in this new world.
